TJN Supervision Specialists was originally formed to provide supervised parenting time services in the Denver Metropolitan area.  Through the "Partners in Resolution" program, parenting time sessions are conducted in the community in general, resulting in an increased level of comfort for both the parent and the minor child.  This increased comfort level allows the relationship between the parent and the child to solidify and be preserved.

TJN Supervision Specialists has put together a group of individuals who have all the same goal: protecting children from being placed in the middle of their parent's conflicts.  From a practical side, we all have been through this difficult period of time with our own parents.  We have taken our experiences as children; together with our education and life experiences, and we have come together to serve the needs of children and families with our unique supervised parenting time program.

Thomas J. Nellessen:

After approximately ten years of representing the interests of children in Divorce, Dependency and Neglect, and Juvenile cases, Tom Nellessen, the co-director of TJN Supervisions Specialists saw an opportunity to take supervised parenting time to the next level.  The “Partners In Resolution” program that has been developed by Tom and Therese Nellessen and  TJN  Supervision Specialists has accomplished that goal.

Thomas J. Nellessen, the founder and co-director of TJN Supervision Specialists, is a1987 graduate of Metropolitan State College in Denver, where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice.  Mr. Nellessen is also a 1990 graduate of Northern Illinois University, College of Law.

Thomas J. Nellessen is a practicing attorney in the state of Colorado. Much of Mr. Nellessen's legal practice has focused on representing children in Divorce and Social Services type cases.  As a result of his past legal practice, his supervision experience and his prior testimony in courts across the Denver Metro area, Mr. Nellessen has been qualified as an expert witness in the areas of Parent-Child Supervision, Parent-Child Interactions, and Parent-Child Relationships.

Thomas J. Nellessen also provides Child-Family Investigator (CFI) services throughout the Denver Metro area.  Mr. Nellessen has completed the state required 40 hour C.F.I training program.  Mr. Nellessen uses his past Guardian ad Litem and Special Advocate experience, together with the skills that he has developed through his supervised parenting time program to provide the court with C.F.I. reports that focus on family relationships and family dynamics.  Clearly, the best way to get to know a family is to spend a significant amount of time with each family.  This investigation method gives the court a clear picture of the family dynamics and the family relationships involved in each specific case. Through Mr. Nellessen's techniques, the court receives a more complete "practical" picture of each family unit instead of a picture based on testing and minimal family contacts.

Therese Nellessen:

Therese Nellessen is the co-director of TJN Supervision Specialists and has been a significant part of the program since 2003. Therese's vast supervision experience, her experience as an administrator and her 16 years working in education makes her a valuable asset to TJN Supervision Specialists.

Therese has provided testimony in numerous supervision cases across the Denver area.  Therese also provides parenting skills assistance to families who require such services.  As with all TJN Supervision Specialists supervisors, Therese works to bring a sense of normalcy to the lives of children who are going through difficult times. Therese stands by her belief that preserving a child's relationship with ALL persons who have been a significant part of the child's life is of utmost importance.  Just because the parents are having difficulties DOES NOT mean that a child should be withheld from those other relatives (ie. grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends) who have been in the child's life.  Maintaining normalcy includes maintaining these other relationships.
